Welcome to our newest member, Reverend Lou Mitchell.
Our Annual White Cane Fundraiser was May 4 & 5. As most of you know, we had a little trouble working with/in Monroe, so most of the $650 we collected came from Cranbury. Thanks to all the volunteers who spent an hour or two (or three!) shakin the can.
A laurel and hardy handshake to Richard Stannard and Doug Pearce for all the planning and work they did for the Drug Free Fair, with many thanks to everyone who was able to help out at the Lions booth.
It would appear that we sold 728 50/50 Raffle Tickets. The three winners were drawn after the Memorial Day Parade festivities. The winners were: 1st place, Joe Fetch, $1,820; 2nd Place, George Hornyak, $1,092; 3rd Place, John Cirullo, $728. The Club netted $3,515. Thanks to all those who sold tickets, but especially to Richard Hamilton, Dennis Kennedy and Walt Caldwell who boosted sales by selling tickets up and down Main Street during the Parade, and, of course, to our two top ticket salesmen, Mahlon Thompson (48) and Don Herr (101)
And, speaking of the Parade The 2001 Memorial Day Parade was a blistering success thanks to the efforts of our Parade Coordinator, Bob Wood and his cadre of volunteers. Additional kudos to Richard Stannard and his crew for putting the Lions float together.
The Third Annual Cranbury Lions Golf Classic was held on Monday, June 4, 2001. With 80+sponsors and 30 foursomes, this years golf outing promises to be to be our biggest fundraiser, ever. What else can we say besides thank you to the coordinator of the Golf Outing, Walton Caldwell and his group of runners, painters, printers, record keepers, gift procurers, foursome-getters and sponsor sellers; Lions, all!
The First Annual Lions
Family Picnic will be held in Village Park from 1PM 6PM on Sunday, June 10, 2001.
This event is open to all Lions and their guests. Members are encouraged to invite
prospective members and their families. Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato & macaroni
salads, watermelon and beverages will be provided. There will be a games and activities.
The cost is $7.50 per adult and $4 for children age 7-12; children six and under are free.
For tickets see Paul Mucciarone, Andy Jost or Dave Shaffer.
The Cranbury Lions have been chosen, once again, to sponsor a Super 50-50 at Waterfront Stadium on Saturday June 16, 2001. Volunteers would need to be at the Stadium by 5:30 PM (one hour pre-game). Last years 50-50 was one of our biggest fundraisers. We need as many volunteers as we can get to sell tickets at the game. Admission is free and the club will pick up the cost of a hot dog and a beer or soda for each ticket seller. Members may bring someone along, just so long as they are willing to sell tickets and are at least 18-years old. A sign-up sheet is being passed around at the regular meetings. For more information contact Bob Virgadamo.
The Second Annual Trenton Thunder Baseball Picnic will be at 1:05PM, on Sunday, August 12, 2001. This Lions Activity is open to all Cranbury residents, their families and friends. Tickets are $27 per adult/$22 per child and includes admission to the Park, seating in the Picnic Area (3rd Base Side), and, a 90-minute all-you-can-eat buffet starting 30 minutes before game time. The buffet includes soda, BBQ ribs, hamburgers, hotdogs, tossed salad, pasta salad, baked beans, pretzels, potato chips, cookies and assorted melons. Beer can be purchased at the reduced rate of $2.75, per. The picnic area holds 150 people, so put your group together and reserve your seats early. For ticket information call Bob Virgadamo
