Matt Long, Scoutmaster, gave the Lions a fascinating talk about his High Adventure Trek to Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Meeting 1/18/06The Lions held a joint meeting with the West Windsor Lions Club tonight. Richard Bezub of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance (http://www.pinelandsalliance.org) gave the Lions a multimedia presentation on the state of the New Jersey Pinelands. Meeting 12/16/05Tonight was the annual Cranbury Lions Holiday party held at the Bog. It was a joint party with the Hightstown Lions.
Meeting 12/7/05The Cranbury School artists came through in a big way this year in the Lions-sponsored Peace Poster contest. The theme this year was "Peace Without Borders". First Place overall was Jessica Zhang (Lions President Alex Johnson congratulates the winners): Second place was Devin Chambers: Third place was Angela Cao: There were also an unprecedented 5 Honorable Mentions:
Finally, the Captain of the Cranbury First-Aid Squad, Kim Irving, gave a talk to the Lions: Meeting 11/16/05Lion Bob Virgadamo shows off the winning entry in this year's Peace Poster contest in Cranbury: The Lions heard a talk from Paul Ritz on the Kennedy assassination. Halloween 10/31/05The Cranbury Lions held the annual party for children in the Township. Many Lions helped out - but special thanks go to Lion Rich Stannard for his MC duties.
Meeting 10/19/05Tonight was spouse night at the Lions meeting. Tail-twister Peter Turner arranged a song for the spouses, brilliantly performed by Lions Frank Marlowe, Peter Turner, Richard Stannard, and Rusty Hankin (not pictured): The Speaker was Thomas Nye who is the co-owner of "The Grape Escape" - the first and only wine-making school in Middlesex County. He told us about how the school works, and what is involved in making wine. Meeting 8/17/05Fritz Hagen gave the members a cool talk on a very cool topic - Antarctica: Meeting 7/20/05We began tonight's meeting by recognizing two members: President Alex Johnson presents a Lions Certificate to Bob Virgadamo to recognize Bob for bringing in new Lions Members. President Alex Johnson presents Lion Ray Dickey with a Membership key for outstanding contributions to the Club. Lion Frank Marlowe discussed the 60th Anniversary of the dropping of the Atomic bomb during WWII. 7th Annual Golf Outing 5/16/05The Cranbury Lions Golf Outing was held on a beautiful day this year. Following are some pictures from the event: Meeting 4/6/05Tonight, the Cranbury Lions recognized several of the Honorary Members of the Club for their decades of service to the Club and the Community. Lion Wayne Stahl was also recognized - his certificate will be delivered at a later time. President Walt Caldwell presented a certificate to John Bloom. In addition John Bloom received a 50(!)-year pin. Lion Craig Gilbert receives his certificate: Lion Dick West is recognized by President Walt Caldwell: Bob Moore, candidate for International Director, talked to the Lions about his Lionism: Carl and Jane Helstrom talked to the Lions tonight about their running lifestyle, and also about how the Lions Club could potentially sponsor a local Race: Finally, Frank Marlowe presented Carl Helstrom a donation from the Lions Club to the Cranbury Historical Society: Meeting 3/2/05Joseph Bocklage, Secretary of District 16D, talked to the Lions about his experiences as a Lions International Director: Meeting 2/16/05Bart Jackson gave the Lions a talk about his travels in Argentina, but the highlight was the Tango dance with the Cranbury Station staff member, Cindy: Meeting 2/2/05It was Boy Scout night at the Lions meeting. Guest speaker Patti Long showed the Cranbury Lions pictures from "Whispers From the Grave" - a village event held by the Historical Society to commemorate the Battle of Monmouth. Village residents dressed in period clothing and portrayed Revolutionary War veterans buried at the Presbyterian Church. Meeting 9/15/04Tonight was Guest Night. Several Lions brought prospective members to the meeting. Lion Mahlon Thompson gave a talk on Lionism Cranbury Day 9/11/04This year's Cranbury Day was another success - great weather and great food, and a great fund-raiser. Meeting 5/5/04Ed Lawson finally gets his plaque for his Lion of the Year honor: Tonight's speaker was Dick West, a Cranbury Lion since 1956. The topic was a look back on his experiences in the Lions Club, along with additional remembrances on his time on the township committee. Cranbury Lions. This will be his final address in his capacity as the
Police Chief owing to his upcoming retirement. Meeting 11/19/03The Cranbury Lions held a hobby night, where members present their avocational interests. Tonight, Bob Virgadamo showed his picture frame collection: Walt Caldwell talked about Amateur Radio: Meeting 11/5/03Kendrick Li, chosen by the Cranbury Lions to represent Cranbury at the annual "World Affairs Seminar" at the University of Wisconsin, gave a report to the Lions about the seminar, centered on World Peace: Halloween 10/31/03The Lions held their annual Halloween party in the Cranbury School gymnasium. Everyone had a frightfully good time!
Meeting 9/17/03Peter Turner gave the Lions a talk on "Keys to Effective Presentations" Cranbury Day 9/6/03It was the usual perfect weather for the Cranbury Day festival in downtown Cranbury. The Lions ran the traditional hamburger and chicken stand, raising a lot of money for the good works. Some pictures of the hard work:
