The Cranbury Library Board of Trustees held its first organizational meeting on January 13, 1941. The board is responsible for operating the library, hiring library staff, providing facilities, recreational and educational programs, books and other informational materials.
The Board was increased from seven to nine members in 1998 and then reduced to seven members in 2003. The Mayor and the superintendent of schools, or their designated representatives, account for two members. The Mayor appoints the other five members who serve for terms of five years. The Library Board of Trustees meets on the second Thursday of each month in the Library at 7:30 p.m. except for August.
